If You Are a Man

“Against abortion?  Then don’t have one.”  Then don’t have sex with someone who would have one.

• Choose only to have sex with women who express a firm commitment to see through any pregnancy, whether it is planned or not.

Women aren’t the only ones with choices.  That’s your “Right to Choose”—use it wisely.

Talk to her before you get busy.  When she’s already pregnant, it’s too late to find out.

Why?

It’s not just about ideology.  Even if you use birth control, unplanned pregnancies can always happen.  Whatever your politics may be, there are practical reasons for only having sex with those who agree with you on this issue:

• You don’t want to risk facing the horrible situation of having a woman abort your child while you are powerless to stop her.
• Some women have abortions without even telling the father of the child.  You shouldn’t even have to worry about that kind of deception.
• An unplanned pregnancy is always a tough situation.  You need to know that if it occurs, you’ll be able to focus on planning to care for a son or daughter—instead of spending your energy begging for your child’s mother to let him or her be born.

Live under the assumption that even an unplanned child is not an unwanted child—and make sure that your sex partners agree!

1. Make a clear commitment as to whether or not you would have an abortion in case of unplanned pregnancy; in other words, choose now.
2. Choose only to have sex with men who support your right to choose life.

Choice isn’t just about abortion; obviously, you also have a choice about who you have sex with.  That, too, is your “Right to Choose”.  Use it wisely.
